With the growth in the sales of adventure style motorcycles, Dunlop are keen to announce that their new RoadSmart III sport touring tyre has now been approved by KTM for fitment on their flagship 1190 Adventure and 1290 Super Adventure models.
The Austrian marque has tested both of it’s class leading machines with 120/70 ZR19 front and 170/60 ZR17 rear RoadSmart III tyres from Dunlop, and approved the pairing at the end of February.
The RoadSmart III has a radical new tread pattern which is said to provide huge improvements in wet grip, with mileage returns also said to be somewhat boosted.
Many adventure motorcycles stick to the road 100% of the time, and tyre manufacturers are already producing a number of popular 90/10 road oriented tyres with an adventure style tread pattern capable some light trails work for these kinds of riders.
Dunlop themselves launched the new TrailSmart in 2015 to great acclaim from the press, but the approval of the new RoadSmart III will give riders a dedicated sport touring option for the big KTM bikes if they prefer.
