Ever since their introduction to the market, Dunlop report that the Geomax range has been extremely well received by motocross riders both in the UK and abroad. At competition level, their Geomax MX-32 and MX-52 patterned tyres have won every US Supercross and motocross national championship for the last four years.
This year, Dunlop have decided to expand the range of sizes to include 18 inch rears due to a rise in the number of requests from riders.
“We’ve had demand from off-road riders who want the same MXGP winning performance in 18-inch as the 19-inch rear Geomax MX series tyre users, so we’re making 18-inch sizes available in January, 2016,” says Andy Marfleet, marketing manager for Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA.
The Geomax MX-52 will soon be available in 100/100-18 and 110/100-18 rear sizes, and on top of these sizes Geomax MX-32 will also come in a 120/90-18 rear. Both tyres feature the same technology that has made them popular among professional and amateur racers alike.
Also new for 2016, Dunlop have changed the name of the MX-32 to the MX-3S. Only the name has changed, the tyre itself is exactly the same as before, but there is no longer an element of confusion between the Dunlop Geomax MX-32 and Pirelli Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32.
The Geomax MX-3S is ideal for soft to intermediate terrain, whilst the MX-52 is for use on intermediate to hard terrain. Dunlop use block within a block technology to provide superior grip over a wide variety of terrain, whilst handling has been enhanced and knob durability improved to offer more flex and less tearing.
It also boasts excellent bump absorption delivered through the use of a damping control sidewall rubber compound and recess carcass design that help to damp out bounce, acting as a suspension component so the tyre can better follow the track surface. The directional design of the front tyre enhances both grip and steering feel.
