Are there any cruiser tyres with good wet grip?
That was the question posed to our very own Bryn Phillips by a reader of Motorcycle News in their July 15th edition, who wanted to find an alternative to his Dunlop Elites on his Victory Cross Roads.
With a 130/70 R18 front and 180/60 R16 rear, there are very few tyres made in sizes for the Victory Cross Roads, and even fewer that are actually an approved fitment.
There are no cruiser tyres that give similar levels of wet grip, when compared with modern sport touring tyres such as the latest Pilot Road 4 and Bridgestone Battlax T30 EVO – both of which deliver outstanding levels of wet grip for riders on the likes of the GSX-R750 and VFR800F.
However, the Avon Cobra and Metzeler ME888 Marathon Ultra are both approved fitments for the bike, and either of these options would give much better feel and wet grip than the original Dunlops.
