The conditions at Aberdare Park were ideal this weekend as the National Road Races took place in glorious dry and sunny weather in front of a crowd of 4,000 spectators.
Competing at Aberdare was Michelin sponsored road racer Daley Mathison riding his Hol-Taj Suzuki GSX-R600 fitted with Michelin Power Cup tyres.
The races have been running for over 60 years, and this year was a real nail biter. Mathison was involved in a close battle with fellow competitor Mark Goodin, and he made every split second count to take victory by just 0.1 of a second.
Speaking of the win, Daley said: “I’ve been competing at the Aberdare Park Road Races for a number of years now, and this year I was determined to show what I could do. Everything seemed to come together on the weekend, the bike and tyre set-up was perfect, enabling me to concentrate on the ride and ultimately take the win.”
Michelin and Mathison will be moving on to the Ulster Grand Prix in mid-August, and Daley looks like a real contender for a potential podium.
