In only their second year of competition after returning to the road racing scene, German brand Metzeler were celebrating the performances of their riders at the 2014 Isle of Man TT where they took a total of two wins and eight podium finishes.
With a superb ride from Gary Johnson for his 2nd ever TT win, followed by a win for Dean Harrison in the Lightweight TT the Metzeler tyres were really put through their paces. The win for Gary Johnson came in a nail biting Supersport race which saw him trade places with the Kiwi veteran Bruce Anstey to win just around 1.5 seconds in at the end of the four laps of the mountain course.
As a young and upcoming rider, Dean Harrison took a superb second place in the Superstock class on his RC Express Racing Kawasaki, before going one better putting in a dominant performance in thge Lightweight class on his 650 Kawasaki. Last year’s winner James Hillier took 2nd on the podium and he was followed by newcomer James Cowton, also riding on Metzeler to give them a clean sweep of the podium.
The Tyco Suzuki team of Guy Martin and William Dunlop also took three podium places between them. Guy took a 2nd place in the Superbike class before taking a 3rd place in the Senior class, whilst teammate William Dunlop took a 3rd place in the second Supersport race.
