At the beginning of the members of the DRF Powerband racing team were split up as the three young riders took part in competitions around the UK on Michelin motocross tyres, with all three really starting to find their form again.
Down at Pontrillis Jordan Eccles was competing in the new MX National series, moving to a new machine for this round by riding on a 250cc four stroke KTM in the MXY2 class. From the very beginning of the event it was clear that he could run at the top, and he produced a series of great starts on the bike which was totally new to him. With very little time to get used to the difference in power delivery compared with his usual 125cc two stroke, he still ended up with a 4th position just outside of the podium places.
Down at Hilton Park for the GT cup, racer George was entered as a wildcard in the MXY2 class. This was only George’s second time racing his new 125cc machine, and the young 13 year old didn’t disappoint with his results improving all the time with two 6th places, then a 5th, 4th and 3rd which gave him a 4th place overall for the weekend just shy of a podium spot.
Finally at Badby Alfie Rickwood had decided to race in order to worm up ahead of his forthcoming nationals event. Never failing to produce the results, Alfie took holeshots and won all three of his races with a trio of superb performances on Michelin motocross tyres.
