Following a recent 1000km Australian road test by the magazine Aus Motorcyclist on a Triumph Speed Triple, the Avon 3D Ultra Sport comes highly recommended!
The 3D Ultra Sport boasts outstanding handling characteristics, fast warm-up times, enhanced grip and great mileage and test rider Stuart Woodbury was keen to see just what they could do.
Stuart took them on a ride which covered all types of road and weather conditions, with a mixture of long straights and twisties testing both the durable centre compound which delivers improved mileage and stability, as well as the grip enhancing large footprint and softer shoulder compounds experienced at extreme lean angles in the corners.
He was very impressed with the warm up times, stating that “within a couple of corners from the start, there’s bucket loads of grip available”. He was also extremely impressed with the neutral and precise handling, as well as the progressive levels of feedback which inspired the confidence to push both bike and tyre very hard. The wet grip also proved to be very good for a sports tyre, again with progressive levels of feedback boosting rider confidence.
Following the test Stuart predicted that he could get between 10 – 13,000km from this sports oriented tyre and he summed up his review stating:
“If you want a sports (or sports touring) tyre with all-round capabilities with a great balance of mileage versus grip and an awesome look, the Avon 3D Ultra Sport is one you should definitely look at for your bike”.
