Currently in South America, the Schram family are enjoying a round the world motorcycle journey come holiday, and their online travel blog (earth-roamers.blogspot.co.uk) has proved to be very popular with fellow riders.
The families trip started back in 2012, with husband and wife team Aad & Jeanette, along with their son Mike leaving their home for a four month stay in New Zealand, before shipping their bikes across to Canada. From Vancouver they rode up to Alaska, and tackled the famous Dalton Highway as featured on Ice Road Truckers, all the way to the town of Deadhorse.
After Deadhorse they crossed the Arctic circle and the Top of the World highway, before coming south in to the USA. In the USA they decided to visit as many national parks as possible, before going further south into Mexico, riding through the Baja.
The husband and wife team both ride the Triumph Bonneville, and son Mike has a single cylinder Yamaha XT660R. Aad has been riding for more than 30 years, and he says he has had very good experiences ever since he fitted his first set of Avons.
For this trip the family decided to run the Avon Distanzia, and despite Aad’s initial concern about fitting a dual sport tyre to his 2009 T100 Bonneville he say’s that the family haven’t looked back, and that the tyres have also proved to be the best wet weather tyres they have ever had.
You can keep tabs on their latest adventures via their website, it’s well worth a look!
