We’ve been given an update on ‘Myfanwy’ the latest addition to the Blood Bikes Mid Wales. In September of this year, Cambrian Tyres donated a brand new motorbike to the fantastic charity. In the short time that the brand new BMW R1250 RT LE has been on the road it’s already covered over 3000 miles.
Blood Bikes Mid Wales, provides a completely free courier service for the NHS, the volunteers do an absolutely amazing job with both transporting essential and often life-saving supplies for the Welsh NHS. ‘Myfanwy’ has carried out over 100 medication/sample/blood runs, ranging from The Heath University Hospital in Cardiff to Alder Hey children’s Hospital in Liverpool. The bike bike enables the volunteers to continue offering the Hywel dda Health Board a free courier service. In the 5 years that they have been operating for the Aberystwyth area they have never missed a shift, and operate 7 days a week.
The bike was affectionately named Myfanwy, after the late wife of Cambrian Tyres founder Cledwyn Evans, who sadly passed away early last year. Myfanwy, who was also known by many Aberystwyth residents as Margaret, played an instrumental role in founding the company, which celebrated 50 years in business back in February of this year. The bike has now been donned with Myfanwy’s signature. We can’t wait to see how this gift in her memory will continue to make a difference in Aberystwyth and beyond for years to come.
