It was a big day for Tommy Searle this weekend, where he secured the British MX1 championship title on his Honda CRF450R paired with Bridgestone Motocross tyres. The final round of the series took place at the Landrake circuit in Cornwall, where Searle was riding for Crendon Fastrack Honda team.
The day started with Searle on level points with his title rival Harri Kullas. The opening race saw Tommy confidently taking the lead from the first lap, he managed to pull away to a fine win on one of his favourite tracks.
In the second race, Searle once again put his Honda CRF450R in contention near the front of the pack. Tommy wheelied over the finish line in third place, which put him 10 points ahead of his opponent Kullas. This gave Searle the British championship, and boy where his team and fans thrilled.
Here’s what Tommy Searle had to say: “I knew it was going to be a big race as Harri has ridden well all year. But I’d worked really hard for the past four weeks to get ready and was a lot more confident than I’d been all season.
“It started off well as I got my first British championship win, then I knew all I had to do to clinch the title was to finish right behind Harri. But I was running second, made a small mistake and dropped to third and knew it was enough to get the job done.”
