This week the MXGP paddock has been in action at Mantova in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, with considerable success for tyre maker Dunlop after two superb wins from their Kawasaki stars.
In the WMX series, defending champion Courtney Duncan re-ignited her championship challenge with a mid-week win in the second moto of the day as she also laid down a marker with the fastest lap.
Just last weekend she recorded her first moto victory on the 2021-spec Kawasaki KX250 at the same circuit, and these results mean she is just 4 points behind the series leader with the season finale at Trentino still to come in around a month’s time.
Fellow Dunlop rider and multiple world champion Kiara Fontanesi took 3rd overall at Mantova, and she sits fourth in the championship standings.
In the main MXGP class Kawasaki’s Romain Febvre grabbed his first moto win of the season after taking the holeshot in the second contest. After taking 3rd earlier that day, Romain was clearly on a mission as he led from start to finish.
Both riders used the versatile Dunlop Geomax MX-33 on the front, and the MX-12 on the rear – a setup designed to cope with the challenges of the hard sand surface at Mantova.
