KTM & Husqvarna Choose Dunlop For 2021 MX Range

Dunlop Geomax MX-33 KTM Husqvarna

This week Dunlop have confirmed that their latest Geomax MX-33 tyre has been selected as the OE fitment for every motorcycle in KTM and Husqvarna’s 2021 motocross ranges.

Having proven it’s race winning performance at the highest levels of the sport, the Geomax MX-33 will be fitted on all 2021-spec KTM SX bikes, from the flagship 450 SX-F down to the lightweight two-stroke KTM 125 SX and junior range. Husqvarna’s full 2021 range also benefits from the wide range of Geomax MX-33 performance, including on the top-level Husqvarna FC 450.

Ahead of the announcement, both marques have carried out extensive testing of the Geomax MX-33. The tyre is primarily is designed for soft, mud and intermediate terrains, but has proven that it can perform on an even wider range of surfaces to give riders an advantage when conditions are mixed.

A versatile soft terrain tyre which works over a wide range of surfaces.

Dunlop engineers worked hard to improve durability on intermediate terrain when compared with the old Geomax MX-3S.

Used at the highest levels within MXGP.

This latest addition to Dunlop’s motocross range was developed in close collaboration with riders competing within MXGP, and the tyres used by these top riders are identical to those available off the shelf at your local retailer.

Dunlop engineers modified the tyre design so that it now features a longer, narrower apex shape which enhances stability and feedback. A revised construction also improves shock absorption and allows for better control of casing deformation for improved consistency. Dunlop’s long standing Progressive Cornering Block Design already features across the Geomax range, although the new MX-33 is the first tyre in the range to utilise this technology on the front as well. This latest upgrade will help make slides more controlled, and riders will also benefit from additional grip.

The new tyre has also developed a serious pedigree since it was added to the range in mid-2019. In fact, Dunlop-equipped bikes won five of the last eight MXGP races in 2019, along with every round of this year’s AMA Supercross Championship, and they helped Courtney Duncan to her FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship title win last year too.

"We’re confident that the technology in Geomax MX-33 will allow KTM and Husqvarna’s customers to enjoy their 2021 motocross bikes to the fullest..."
