Bridgestone may be something of a late arrival to the all-terrain adventure tyre market, but just like to slogan for a well known Dublin brew, good things come to those who wait!
With adventure bike sales on the rise for several years, all tyre makers are clamoring for bigger slice of the market, and with the road-oriented A41 already selling well, the AX41 is the next piece of the puzzle for the Japanese rubber giant.
Initially introduced in 2019, and the number of AX41 sizes has since been significantly expanded for 2020 as the long-standing Trail Wing range is trimmed down.
Over at ABR Magazine, James Oxley couldn’t wait to find out what these tyres were all about, and with a set mounted to his Tiger 800 he quickly set about piling on the miles – more than 4,500 so far, with life still left in the tyres too!
He recently published his long term review on the ABR website, and summing up on their performance he says:
“By their very nature, adventure tyres are a compromise. You sacrifice some on-road performance in return for off-road ability. However, all the research and development Bridgestone has put into the Battlax Adventurecross AX41 means you get a seriously competent off-road tyre that’s also a blast to ride on the blacktop. I’d happily take it on my next tour if a mix of rough and smooth surfaces were on the cards.”
