Launched in mid-2018, Dunlop’s latest soft to intermediate terrain motocross tyre, the Geomax MX-33, has taken over from their already popular MX-3S.
The MX-3S front/rear combination was one of the most popular on the market, offering excellent versatility across a range of terrain, although according to some magazines they were somewhat let down by their durability. This may not have been an issue to teams with big budgets, but for your average motocross rider durability often equals value for money, and it can prove crucial!
On the new rear tyre, which was recently the subject of a short feature in Motocross Action Magazine, Dunlop added tie bars to offer additional levels of support to the side knobs. A slightly more rigid carcass construction was also introduced to offer a more consistent feel when the bike is fully leaned over.
During their brief review, the MXA team commented:
“Compared to the MX-3S,the MX-33 has improved grip and doesn’t want to step out as much on exit.
The feel is quite different from that of the MX-3S, as test riders were able to get on the gas harder coming through and out of corners.”
