Adventure Bike Rider Test Latest Bridgestone Tyres

Bridgestone A41 review

Leading ADV magazine Adventure Bike Rider recently sent experienced test rider Alun Davies to Morocco, North Africa, to test out two brand new Battlax tyres from Bridgestone.

The new Battlax T31 is a sport touring tyre which offers increased levels of grip in wet weather, plus improved all-round handling, without any sacrifice in durability. Similarly, the Battlax A41 Adventure offers increased wet grip for bikes like the BMW R1200GS, as well as improved all-round performance in the dry.

Twisting ribbons of black tarmac snaking up into the Atlas Mountains provided an ideal opportunity to test Bridgestone’s claims of improved handling, and there was also an off-road foray during the testing of the new A41 to see how it coped in the dirt.

Alun has just published his full review in the may-June 2018 issue of the magazine, where he says:

“Bridgestone have upped their game with both the A41 and T31.

Both tyres offered a super planted feel along high-speed straights and especially so on long sweepers and high octane hairpins.

The T31s are the obvious choice if you crave a bit of ‘sport’ in your touring, with both the front and rear offering Velcro-like grip even when pushing extremely hard into corners.

Despite their 90/10 rating for road/off-road, the A41 surprised quite a few riders with the combined competence of grip, stability, confidence and control during the off-road sections. Equally so on the tarmac.

I can say with confidence that both the A41 and T31 were put through their paces at a rate of knots I’d not ride at when at home and on my own bike. Both passed their respective tests with ease and as such, I can highly recommend them.”
