The bank holiday weekend was certainly a productive one for Metzeler, as their riders dominated the third round of the FIM Enduro GP World Championship in Portugal.
Riders battled against copious amounts of dust and thirty degree temperatures in the town of Castello Branco, with Bologna’s Alex Salvini the most prominent rider for Metzeler as he contested both the EnduroGP and E2 class on his 450 Husqvarna. In the E2 class, Savini completed an impressive double victory.
Britain’s Steve Holcome rode well on Day Two to take an impressive 2nd place in the EnduroGP, also topping the standings in the E3 class after an impressive comeback on the Beta machine.
Fellow Brit Jamie McCanney stole the limelight in the E1 class, taking victory on the opening day for Outsiders Yamaha, and finishing in second on Day Two to remain the undisputed leader in the series so far this year.
The top four Enduro GP riders are all running on Metzeler tyres, with Eero Remes and Alex Salvini sharing the lead on 84 points each.
Salvini leads Remes in the E2 class, with Loic Larrieu rounding out the top three for Metzeler, while Holcombe holds a 14 point advantage in E3.
In the Junior class Andrea Verona and Davide Sorreca are both flying the flag for the German tyre brand, as they chase down series leader Matteo Cavallo.
All Metzeler riders use the firm’s highly acclaimed Six Days Extreme enduro tyre, which has earned them unrivaled success in the series in recent years.
They’ll be back in action early next month in Tallin, the capital of Estonia, which hosts round four.
