Last month Suzuki unveiled their new flagship motocross machine, the 5th generation RM-Z450, to a whole host of journalists from across the globe.
The machine has benefited directly from Suzuki’s factory race machines used in the All-Japan series, and the similarities between the two were laid bare when test riders got the chance to put in laps on both bikes back to back.
The ’16 – ’17 engine has been refined to make it more powerful, but combined with other changes to the bike it is also infinitely more exploitable. Weight distribution has been altered to improve cornering performance, and a new swing arm and frame contribute towards this along with increases in stability.

With the introduction of the new model, Suzuki have also decided to fit the increasingly popular Bridgestone Battlecross X30 as the original equipment tyre.
Bridgestone’s medium terrain tyre features a number of innovative technologies to deliver consistent, longer lasting performance. These innovations include Castle Block Technology, which features a block within a tread block to provide more consistent levels of grip when riding over changeable surfaces. Cooling Fin Technology is also present on the sidewall of the rear tyre, and has been introduced to reduce heat build up in the tyre during a race in order to limit deformation and provide more consistent levels of grip right down to the final lap.
Until 31st August 2017, Bridgestone are giving riders in the UK a total of 4 free tubes and a race entry fee to the value of £40 when they purchase any 4 adult or junior tyres from their motocross range at participating dealers.
You can find your local dealer at www.bridgestonemx.co.uk along with terms and conditions.
Members of the motorcycle trade who would like to participate still have time to get involved, and should contact Cambrian Tyres as the official UK trade distributor for full details. There is no obligation to put tyres into stock for the promotion as you can order as you go, but incentives are available for those who wish to do so.
