The Avon 3D Ultra Xtreme is aimed at track day and hypersport riders, and features some of the British based manufacturer’s latest motorcycle tyre technologies to give riders the highest levels of performance.
These include a super sticky compound which offers superb grip out on track in dry weather, and sipe technology to deliver very fast warm up times to bring the tyre up to temperature as quickly as possible so that you can get on with your riding. Avon’s 3D sipes feature interlocking three dimensional points which also limit the amount of tread flex, to stop the tyre from overheating whilst offering excellent stability. For riders who really like to get their elbow down, the 3D Ultra Xtreme also has a large contact patch at extreme lean angles.
In the August 2014 edition of Fast Bikes magazine, the tyre was featured in their Grip Advisor section and their writers had this to say:
“This is Avon’s trackday tyre, and it’s a belter too. We know that people like their regular rubber, so that’s why you can treat us as guinea pigs to see if left field options are any good. So this Avon is a big leap forward for Avon, and some development versions of this tyre went and competed at the TT this year. The tyre uses sipes to encourage quicker warm up times and is constructed with a tri-compound so that when it’s on ear you’re not sacrificing grip. The front’s construction lends itself to quick steering, although right on the edge the rear could do with having a bit more grip. On a traction controlled bike it’s all good, mind. The sipes generate plenty of heat, perhaps too much on a hot day, meaning this may be a tyre better in cooler climes. All told, a more viable option”.
So if you want a high quality, British made product for your road and track bike then this is well worth a look!
