Launched in 2022, Bridgestone’s latest Battlecross X31 has quickly established itself as a firm favourite with riders and dealers up and down the UK.
Several years of intensive R&D effort went into the replacement for the X30, and it offers increased performance in all areas, and across a much wider range of terrain than it’s predecessor.
The big change is the introduction of Bunker Groove Technology, which works to improve casing flex for enhanced traction in harder terrain, while adding more biting edges on softer ground.
In the USA, the highly regarded team at Dirt Bike have been putting them to the test and had some glowing feedback to share in their recent June issue.
Weather conditions have been perfect for tyre testing in Southern California so far this year, and the Dirt Bike has this to say about the X31:
“The Battlecross X31 has proven it’s versatility in a myriad of conditions. We tested our tyre in a 110/100-18 size, which is the only 18-inch size, and came away impressed. There hasn’t been a day in the last several months to test the tyre in ultra-dry conditions, but in the wet is has provided supreme traction, From hard-packed soil to deep sand and even mud, the Bridgestone bites hard with strong feel and control. Our landscape gets quite rocky, and a strong sidewall lets us run lower air pressure to promote comfort and traction.
The block spacing cleans out mud nicely, and cornering traction is strong, allowing you to lean the bike into extreme angles and trust that the back end isn’t going to walk out from you. The wear has been excellent (certainly helped by moist conditions), and with hundreds of miles on the tyre, there is no chunking to be seen.
Overall the Bridgestone Battlecross X31 gets a very positive thumbs up for versatility, traction and wear.”
