In the April 2017 edition of RiDE Magazine, they’ve been taking a closer look at Triumph’s superb Tiger 800 range and speaking to a number of current owners about the reasons why it’s become their motorcycle of choice.
RiDE have also been getting tyre tips from riders, and here’s their pick of the bunch:
- Continental ContiRoadAttack 2 EVO
“Pure road tyres popular with XR owners looking for a fitment for the 19in front wheel.
Good mileage and dry grip.”
Continental’s current sport touring tyre is about to be super-seeded by the new RoadAttack 3, but it’s still packed with some of the manufacturer’s latest technologies including Traction Skin and Multi Grip and will remain in their range for some time.
The new ContiRoadAttack 3 boasts improved wet grip and even better handling, and will be out in adventure bike sizes in Q2 and Q3 of this year if you want to wait for the very latest tyre on the market.
- Michelin Anakee 3
“Good feel, great wear and not bad in the rain either.
Peter Norton has squeezed a mighty 15,000 miles from a pair!
Some owners complained they were very noisy when new, though.”
Michelin’s Anakee 3 is a very popular fitment for road going adventure style motorcycles, and has been chosen as an OE option by the likes of BMW on their GS range.
- Avon TrailRider
“One of the few tyres made in the original 100/90-19 front size for the XR; popular with high mileage riders.
You can expect at least 8,000 miles from a rear and up to double that from a front.”
Avon’s TrailRider is their most advanced motorcycle tyre to date, looking the part of ADV style bikes with it’s chunky pattern, but offering exceptional on-road performance too.
