It was a great start to the MXGP season for Pirelli this weekend, with three big names leading the way for the Italian tyre maker in Argentina.
More than 50% of the respective MXGP and MX2 fields ran Pirelli motocross tyres, with supported riders unanimously choosing to run the Scorpion Mid Soft MX32 on the front and the new Scorpion MX Soft on the rear.
Jeffrey Herlings was on superb form in the premier class, finishing the opening round tied on points with Antonio Cairoli after a big victory in the second moto of the weekend over his teammate. Romain Febvre and Jeremy van Horebeek also secured 4th and 5th place respectively, to ensure that four of the top five places went to Pirelli riders.
In MX2 the defending champion Paul Jonass proved to be unstoppable, as he pulled a clear lead over fellow Pirelli riders Thomas Kjer Olsen and Hunter Lawrence who also had strong riders.
The second round of the season will see riders fly to Europe and the Valkenswaard Circuit in The Netherlands, where Pirelli will be hoping for more dominant performances.
