METZELER PROVES QUALITY WITH SUPERSTOCK VICTORY AT NORTH WEST 200 ROAD RACES
Metzeler took an impressive victory in the Superstock class plus second in Supersport at a challenging North West 200 this weekend.
Alastair Seeley took a thrilling but shortened Superstock win while his TAS by Relentless Suzuki team-mate Bruce Anstey narrowly missed out on Supersport honours in the smaller 600cc category.
Seeley had a mixed day, having earlier crashed in the Supersport race but more than made amends with his Metzeler Racetec Interact shod Suzuki GSXR-1000 securing his second ever NW200 victory.
Anstey lead the Supersport race at one point but it wasn’t to be his day as he followed Steve Plater across the line in both Superbike and Supersport classes.
The event, which is acknowledged as Northern Ireland’s biggest sporting occasion, saw a reduced race day programme scrapping the final Supersport and Superbike events from the schedule.
Both the Superstock and Supersport classes are reckoned to have the most closely related tyres to standard road use, with the raceday Metzelers sharing tread pattern and characteristics with those bought from dealerships.
The high-speed course has given Metzeler technicians the knowledge they need for the forthcoming Isle of Man TT, an event that shares certain attributes with the NW200.
Gianmarco Spigolon, Director of Metzeler, commented, "This Superstock victory reinforces the knowledge that we have the best performing tyres for real road conditions and we were so close in Supersport also. Roll on the TT!"
